André Gordon — GTI Administração de Recursos
Panel: “Investment Picks”
Founding partner with GTI Administração de Recursos, an independent investment management company focusing on Brazil’s stock market. During his more than 19 years of experience in financial markets, André Gordon has worked at the trading desks of several renowned financial institutions, including Banco Itaú BBA, Banco Pátria, Santander and Banco Bozano, Simonsen. He is a member of AMEC’s Audit and Technical Committees and holds a master’s degree in Economics from EPGE/FGV-RJ and an Economics degree from FEA/USP.


Bruno Moreira Barbosa De Brito — FUNCEF
Lecture: “Selection of Value Managers”
Bruno Brito, since 2009, coordinates FUNCEF’s active equity allocation activities, being responsible for following economic indicators, prospecting for allocation, financial evaluation and modeling of businesses, and managment of the proprietary non-indexed equity portfolio. Formerly, he worked at the M&A and private equity areas of BANIF Banco de Investimentos. He is in the Board of Directors of Desenvix S.A., a company in the renewable energy generation industry. Bruno Brito graduated in Electrical Engineering from Universidade de Brasília, has a master’s in Business Administration/Finance from Coppead/UFRJ with an extension in Thunderbird — The Garvin School of International Management (EUA), and is a Corporate Finance professor at IBMEC-DF.


Fabio Alperowitch — FAMA Investimentos
Lecture: “Valuable Valuation”
Fabio Alperowitch, CFA is a founding partner with FAMA Investimentos, an independent investment management firm founded in 1993 that focuses on small-cap stocks and private equity and currently manages about R$ 1.4 billion, predominantly from universities, pension funds, and insurance companies. FAMA’s most traditional fund — Futurewatch — has a return of 31% per year compounded for more than 17 years. Fabio Alperowitch is in the Board of Directors of Magnesita, M. Dias Branco, and LogIn. He graduated in Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas and was awarded the CFA — Chartered Financial Analyst — designation.


Florian Bartunek — Constellation Asset Management
Lecture: “Value Investing Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow”
Florian Bartunek is founding-partner and CIO of Constellation Asset Management, whose activities initiated in 1998 with Utor Investments, a proprietary investment vehicle of Banco Garantia’s former owners. Formerly, he was partner with Banco Pactual, where he was head of research, proprietary trader, responsible for the asset management operation and manager of all of the Bank’s equity portfolios and funds. He was manager of the Andromeda Fund (number 1 in the ranking of Brazilian equity funds, for 3 consecutive years), of the Infinity Fund (number 1 in the ranking of offshore Brazilian equity funds, for 2 consecutive years), and of a segregated portfolio for George Soros. Florian Bartunek started his career at Banco Nacional em 1989. He graduated in Business Administration from PUC-RJ and has taught Value Investing at IBMEC and ANBID. He is the vice president of ProA — one of Brazil’s largest NGOs associated with professional education — and is the Education Officer of Young President’s Organization.


Helder Rodrigues da Cunha Soares — Claritas
Panel: “Investment Picks”
Managing partner and head of equity strategy at Claritas. From 1994 to 2001, he worked at Banco Matrix, where he became partner and head of proprietary fixed-income operations. He started his career as an investment analyst at Banco Patrimônio, in 1992. Helder Soares holds a Business Administration degree from FGV-SP and an Economics degree from Universidade de São Paulo.


Luiz Carlos Mendonça de Barros — Quest Investimentos
Opening: “Macro Scenario: Risks and Opportunities”
Founding partner, CEO, and Strategist with Quest Investimentos. Between 1998 and 2001, he was Brazil’s Telecommunications Minister, responsible for the deregulation of the sector in a privatization process of 22 billion USD. From 1995 to 1998, he was President of BNDES (Brazilian Development Bank), where he conducted the privatization process of CVRD (today’s “Vale”). In 1993, he established Banco Matrix, a successful investment bank and asset management company. He was a Director and a Board member of the Central Bank of Brazil (from 1985 to 1987) and founder (1983) of Planibanc, an investment bank and securities brokerage firm associated with Bankers Trust and four of Brazil’s main industrial groups: Votorantim, Brasmotor, Bardella and Pão de Açúcar. In 1972, with three partners, he founded Patente, a brokerage firm member of the Board of the Bolsa Mercantil de Valores de São Paulo. Luiz Carlos Mendonça de Barros started his career in 1967 as a financial analyst at investment bank Investbanco. He graduated in Production Engineering from POLI-USP, holds a Doctorate degree in Economics from Unicamp and is a contributor to newspapers Folha de São Paulo and Valor Econômico.


Marcelo Sá Earp — First Value Capital
Lecture: “Behavioural Finance and Value Investing”
Founding partner with First Value Capital, an equity fund management firm whose approach is based on traditional value investing and Behavioural Finance. Before founding First Value Capital, he was one of the founding partners and portfolio managers of Mint Capital. He worked at Credit Suisse (2003-2010), Banco Modal, Icatu Investimentos and Banco Icatu, where he started his career in 1994 at the proprietary equity desk. Marcelo Sá Earp completed Bruce Greenwald’s Value Investing Seminar at Columbia University in 2009. He studied Chemical Engineering at UFRJ and Economics at Cândido Mendes.


Mauricio Bittencourt — M Square Investimentos
Lecture: “Investment Cases: Critical Analysis and Decisive Factors”
Partner with M Square since April 2007 and manager of the firm’s Brazilian-equity funds. Before joining M Square, Mauricio Bittencourt was an associate partner with Banco Pactual (2005-2007), a partner with Synthesis Asset Management/Synergy Funds (2003-2005), and a partner/portfolio manager with Investidor Profissional (1992-2003). He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.


Pedro Luiz Cerize — Skopos
Lecture:
“Portfolio Management: Reconciling Fundamentalism with Risk/Return Analysis”

Founding partner and asset allocation principal with Skopos, an equity-focused investment fund company. Formerly, he worked at Socopa, Banco Fator, and Banco BBA Creditanstalt — where he was head of the proprietary equities desk. Pedro Cerize has a Business Administration degree (with honors) from Fundação Getulio Vargas and an MBA in Finance from IBMEC. Currently, he is a Board member at Copel, Porto Seguro, OHL Brasil and CVI.


Ralph Gustavo Rosenberg — Perfin Investimentos
Panel: “Investment Picks”
Founding partner with Perfin Investimentos, responsible for managing the equity funds since 2007. He started his career as an equities trader at Banco Santander and later on became a a trader at Banco Safra. In 2006, he was responsible for the equity strategy at Avanti Gestão de Recursos. Ralph Rosenberg graduated in Business Administration and holds an Executive MBA in Finance from IBMEC.

Thomas de Mello e Souza — Gávea Investimentos
Panel: “Investment Picks”
Senior equity manager at Gávea, having joined the firm as partner and director of investments in June 2011. In 2008, he founded AguasClaras Investimentos, an investment management firm focused on Brazilian equities (2008-2011). He was executive director responsible for managing equities and strategic investments at JSI Investimentos, Mr. Joseph Safra’s family office (2004-2007). Formerly, he was a director of Merrill Lynch in Brazil (1994-2004), responsible for the sell side department, and a senior analyst of the mining, steel, and pulp and paper industries. Several times he was ranked among the best analysts by “Institutional Investor” and “Latin Finance” magazines. He graduated in Economics from Clark University, Massachusetts.
