Alexandre Sabanai — Perfin Investimentos (São Paulo)
Panel: “Investment Picks”
Alexandre Sabanai is partner with Perfin Investimentos, where he co-manages investment funds and is responsible for research. Between 2006 and 2011, he was a partner with RXZ Investimentos, where he structured the firm’s equity division as its head of research and as co-manager of its equity fund. Between 2005 and 2006, he was a telecom analyst at Unibanco’s brokerage, having been ranked runner-up All-Brazil Research Team by Institutional Investor; moreover, he was Unibanco’s analyst in charge of the Cosan IPO. He started his career in 2001 at BankBoston Asset Management’s equity division, where he worked at the trading desk, managed arbitrage strategies, and performed fundamental analysis of public companies — in 2002, 2003, and 2004, he was a member of the team elected by Exame magazine as best equity-fund manager. Alexandre Sabanai graduated in Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (EAESP).

Cassiano Leme — Constância Investimentos (São Paulo)
Lecture: “Value Investing in Brasil
Founder of Constância Investimentos and manager of Constância Ações FIA. Formerly, Cassiano Leme was CFO with T4F Entretenimento S.A. (from 2007 to 2008); CFO with Medial Saúde S.A. (from 2006 to 2007), having participated in its IPO and subsequent acquisitions; an executive with Darby Overseas Investments, a private equity firm specialized in emerging markets and part of the Franklin Templeton group (from 2005 to 2006); managing-partner with Mídia Investimentos, a private equity firm that invested in Brazil for Deustche Bank Private Equity (from 2001 to 2004). Cassiano Leme started his career working from 1992 to 2000 at J.P. Morgan & Co. in New York and São Paulo, predominantly as a manager of the private equity division and partner of Latin America Capital Partners, a private equity fund of $700 million. He graduated from Fundação Getulio Vargas in São Paulo and received his MBA with honors from Columbia University in New York.

Gabriel Stoliar — Studio Investimentos (Rio de Janeiro)
Lecture: “Business Evaluation — Value Lessons”
Member of the Investment Committee with Studio Investimentos. Gabriel Stoliar was an Executive Director of CVRD (today’s “Vale”) from 1997 to 2008, initially as Chief Financial Officer and Head of Investor Relations and, later on, responsible for Strategic Planning and Control and Business Development. Formerly, he worked for 19 at BNDES where he became (1994) managing director of BNDESPAR, responsible for the Bank’s public and private equity portfolios. Throughout his 11 years at Vale, he participated as a Director in the Board of various companies, including: Light, CSN, Usiminas, Caemi, California Steel Industries, LogIn e Bolsa de Valores do Rio de Janeiro. Currently, Gabriel Stoliar is Chairman of the Board at Tupy S.A., Chairman of the Board at MRS Logística S.A., and member of the Board at LOG Z Logística Brasil S.A. He graduated in Industrial Engineering at UFRJ (1976) and holds a postgraduate degree in Production Engineering, with focus in Industrial Projects and Transportation, from PIT/COPPE/UFRJ (1979) and an Executive MBA from PDG-SDE/RJ (1991).

Guilherme de Morais Vicente — Mauá Sekular (São Paulo)
Lecture: “The Role of Corporate Events in a Value Strategy”
Guilherme Vicente is partner and head of equity-fund management at Mauá Sekular. Formerly, he was founding-partner and portfolio manager at Apoena Investimentos. He started his career at GPS - Global Portfolio Strategists, where he became head of equities and, in April 2005, started his first Clube de Investimentos, ORION, later on converted into a fund and which has returned 20% per year since inception (compared with 12% per year from the CDI fixed-income Brazilian index and 13% per year from the Ibovespa index during the same period). Guilherme Vicente is a Board member at AMEC and a member of the Audit Committee at Fras-le. He graduated in Business Administration from Fundação Getulio Vargas (EAESP).

José Carlos dos Reis Carvalho — Paineiras Investimentos (Rio de Janeiro)

Head of Macroeconomic Research at Paineiras Investimentos since October 2009. From 2007 to 2009, he was the investment strategist at Sagitta. In 1998, he was a founding-partner with JGP, where he worked as Chief Economist until 2007. He was an economist with Banco Pactual from 1995 to 1998. José Carlos Carvalho holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University.

Marco Bonomo — Behavior Capital Management (Rio de Janeiro)
Lecture: “Behavioral Finance: Divergence between Opinion and Value”
Founding partner and director of Behavior Capital Management, Marco Bonomo holds BA and MA degrees in Economics from PUC-Rio and a Ph.D. degree from Princeton University. His research has focused in Monetary Economics and Finance, and has appeared in international Journals such as the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Monetary Economics, the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, among others. He has also researched for the government and multilateral institutions like the Ministério da Fazenda (Brazilian Ministry of Finance), the BID, and the World Bank. Marco Bonomo is a founding member and former President of the Brazilian Finance Society and former Executive Secretary of the Brazilian Econometrics Society. He is an Associate Professor at the EPGE-FGV and Director of its Master’s Program in Finance and Business Economics. He is also a member of the Economic Cycle Dating Committee (IBRE-FGV). He was an Associate Professor and Director of the Graduate Program in Economics at the PUC-Rio. Maintaining active ties with the international academic community, he has visited with several international research institutions like the New York Fed, the Stockholm School of Economics, Princeton University, the University of Chicago and Université de Montreal.

Patrick Ledoux — Actis (São Paulo)
Lecture: “Private Equity & Value Creation
Patrick Ledoux joined Actis in April 2007 as co-head of the Latam Fund and was appointed Partner in 2009. In 1999 joined TMG, a Private Equity Fund, as a partner responsible for the transaction structure and monitoring of the consolidation of Call Center industry through a platform called Softway (one of the largest independent call centers in Brazil), and the implementation of the largest Private Label credit-card-processing company, Conductor. In both companies he acted as Vice Chairman of the Board. Formerly, he was M&A Director in Brazil of BankBoston (1995-1999), Chase Manhattan (1994-1995), and Banco Francês e Brasileiro - Crédit Lyonnais (1990-94), responsible for transactions in Telecom, Pulp & Paper, Consumer Goods, Retail, and Utilities. Formerly, he was an analyst in Strategic Planning and New Business Development with Armco do Brasil (1987-1990). Patrick Ledoux Completed his BS in Economics and Business Administration at Université de Liège (Belgium).

Renato Opice Sobrinho — Pavarini e Opice Gestão de Ativos (São Paulo)

Renato Opice Sobrinho is partner and portfolio manager with Pavarini e Opice Gestão de Ativos. He manages of the Fundo Pava FIA, which returned 2707% from its inception in April 1997 to September 2012 — as compared to 507% returned by the Ibovespa Index during the same period. He started his career in 1977 as an investment analyst. He was portfolio manager at BankBoston and, later on, worked at banks Econômico, Multiplic, and BMG, becoming director of investments and asset management. He graduated in Business Administration and has a specialization degree in Finance.

Rodrigo Bresser — Bresser Asset Management (São Paulo)

Founding-partner and portfolio manager of Bresser Administração de Recursos Ltda. Formerly partner at Banco Matrix S.A., from 1996 to 2001. Formerly consultant at McKinsey & Co., from 1992 to 1996. Rodrigo Bresser holds a master’s degree (latu sensu), with specialization in macroeconomics, from Fundação Getulio Vargas de São Paulo (1989) and an MBA degree from University of Michigan (1992).

Sergio Fontana dos Reis — Set Investimentos (São Paulo)

Founding-partner with Set Investimentos, portfolio manager registered with the Comissão de Valores Mobiliários (CVM), and fundamentalist investor for more than 15 years. Sergio Fontana dos Reis was in the Board of Directors of Sadia for 15 years. He was CIO and President of Fundação Attílio Fontana, a Brazilian pension fund. He graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from Universidade de São Paulo.
